Helping those in need in times of COVID-19

The Radnor Meeting Peace and Social Concerns committee, in this time of COVID-19,  is especially concerned about the welfare of those on the fringe of society – low-income families, immigrants, homeless, those in prison or recently released to name a few groups.  What can we do as members/attenders for those in need?  We have identified key nonprofits and groups that our Meeting and members/attenders can support.  Below is a partial listing of some worthy causes that we can endorse as suggested opportunities:

Radnor Meeting Book Club meeting monthly

The men’s group and the women’s group of Radnor Meeting have joined forces to create a book
club. Guests who make contact through a Radnor participant are welcome! The group will
focus on books, poetry, or other works recommended by Radnor Meeting participants as having
(or bringing about reflection) on strong spiritual themes. The group has selected the following
six titles for coming Book Club gatherings. Here they are:

All the Light We Cannot See, Doerr – Scheduled for Dec 1st

Spiritual Development Circle now meeting monthly

Two Multicultural Communities Awareness Conversations held at Radnor Meeting

On October 6 and November 3rd the Peace and Social Concerns Committee sponsored two Multicultural Communities Awareness Conversations and Coaching sessions led by Andrea Swinton. The first session provided a framework for participants to powerfully relate in uncomfortable and some common situations.
The second session delved a bit more into past, current and potential situations individuals have and may come across. People shared powerfully and were able to see new ways of approaching real race relations. One reveal was how challenging it is to remain neutral as opposed to being ‘in one camp or the other’. Another reveal was a pathway to opening conversations in relationships takes a commitment to  ‘what works’ versus ‘what’s right or wrong’. Both sessions were well attended and well received as being pragmatic, respectful, and useful.
